If you own a Acer laptop, then be very afraid. Well, not really, as the risk with most laptop and mobile phones are also almost identical, given the recent history of laptop and mobile phone battery recalls. This is actually a good thing in a way, it only shows that the laptop maker/brand cares about your well being, tongue in cheek. Seriously, you could gain something out of this. With recalls, the manufacturer will either replace the part e.g. the battery, etc.. or completely furnish you with a new laptop of the same make or in some LUCKY cases, if the product/model is no longer in production, an equivalent higher model/make laptop.
And so we come to the part where Acer laptop owners should be concerned with. The Acer laptops subject of the short circuit risk are the models: Aspire series of notebooks, including the Acer AS3410, AS3410T, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ and AS3810TZG. The computers were sold between June and October of last year.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said that a short circuit in an internal microphone wire under the palm rest has damaged three machines. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission advises owners of said laptops to stop using the computers immediately and call Acer for a free repair.
