Convert a Sony Ericsson K800i into K810i

You probably want to upgrade and turn a much older model Sony Ericsson K800i mobile phone into a newer model SE K810i. Instead of buying the SE K810i, there is a free alternative to turn a SE K800i into a K810i. Convert your Sony Ericsson K800i to K810i in these 10 easy steps.

1. Download the "Update Service application software" from the Sony Ericsson homepage at www.sonyericsson.com

2. Install "Update Service application software". Follow the instructions in updating the K800i. No need to finish the update, what is only needed is to install the USB driver.

3. Download XS++ from here. XS++ is the program we are going to use for flashing your mobile phone. After downloading extract the zip file and install XS++. (Note: XS++ may not be compatible in Windows 2000)

4. Make a folder named "files_to_upload" where XS++ will be, in our case : c:\k810\XS++\files_to_upload

5. To turn the SE K800i inot a K810i, we need to download the following: K810i latest firmware MAIN and FS + Custpack with K800iLighteffects . Download it from here. After downloading extract the zip file. Drag the file named Custpack (in the TPA folder) to the "files to upload folder", c:\k810\XS++\files_to_upload

6. Turn off your phone, remove the battery and put it back again. Open XS++ and click connect, now connect your phone using your USB while pressing "C". The mobile phone will now be connected.

7. Put the K810_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_SM_RED52.mbn in the "flash main firmware"

8. Put the K810_R8BA024_FS_EUROPE_2_RED52.fbn in the "flash file system"

9. Check "customize file system" then select phone model, choose "own custpack". Then check "Select CDA or Region" choose "own custpack"

10. Click "flash", and wait until the process ends. It will say "disconnect your phone" when the flashing ends. When flashing ends, turn on your SE K800i and voila! your SE K800i has been modded to SE K810i. Enjoy the benefits of the better features of the Sony Ericsson K810i with just a SE K800i like Photofix and TrackID.

Preventing Bad Sector in Hard disk Drive

1. Handle your hard disk carefully as you handle any delicate piece of processor or computer part.

2. If you use your PC everyday, who isn't, nowadays?! Scan for bad sectors and defragment at least once a week.

3. Use hard disk coolers if possible, or try improving your case ventilation by installing a good air intake and air outtake fan, not necessarily just for the hard disk but for your entire CPU.

4. Use anti-static bags if transporting it to prevent static damage.

5. U nless there is no other option, never touch your PC's internal circuit board and don't open the hard drive.

6. Install a power supply unit (PSU) that can handle the load required by your computer. Invest in a good brand too like Hec. And also make sure that it is futureproof, meaning that there will be an allowance for other devices the next time you upgrade.

7. Never tap power from your hard drive by using y-splitters. This can cause your drive to fail if your PSU is overloaded.

Nokia to extend warranty to 3 years

Nokia Philippines is extending the warranty of its mobile phones sold in the Philippines to two or three years from the current one year. That's what Nokia Philippines General Manager William Hamilton Whyte said.

Nokia will also open retail outlets and Nokia care centers in the Southern Philippines.

And to debunk the marketing myth that sellers of Nokia phones do in the Philippines. Mr. Whyte said that Nokia phones manufactured in plants in China, India, Korea, Finland United States and Germany are of the same quality.

"They have the same Nokia components and machines and they follow the same procedure. Not one manufacturing plant produces cellular phones inferior to the other."

So there...i wonder if the Greenhills sellers will act accordingly , if ever they will know this info, or choose to ignore this info, and choose to now price Nokia phones the same even if it is from Finland or China.

Telling a computer hardware problem from a software related problem

When your computer is not working, the reason could be a hardware or software malfunction. When troubleshooting the computer, eliminating the possibility that you have a hardware problem should be the top priority, after all, if the device is working properly, you can fairly assume that it’s the software controlling the device that’s acting up.

Basically, in PC lingo, hardware is anything physical in your computer. If you can touch it, it’s hardware. Software controls the hardware. Specifically, a program called a driver also called a device driver, is used to control every bit of hardware in the PC. If the hardware itself functions fine, the real problem lies in the driver. Either the driver needs updating, or other software in the computer is conflicting with the device driver.

Computer Hardware Problem
If the computer shuts itself off half an hour after you start using it, no matter which programs you run, that’s a hardware problem. Culprit could be the PC getting too hot.

The good thing is that all hardware is replaceable.

Computer Software Problem
Personal Computer software does everything in a computer. And so it is more devious than a hardware problem. Tracking a problem can be hard as all software has unknown bugs in it and no software developer fully tests programs in all possible configurations.

Solution
The rule of thumb in telling a computer hardware or software problem are these two simple questions really:

1. Have you installed any new hardware recently?

2. Have you installed any new software recently?

If your answer is yes to question number 1, then you may have a defective hardware or the hardware has not been placed/installed properly. Replace or fix it accordingly.

If you answer yes in question number 2, uninstall the software, check if the software version is compatible with your OS (Windows XP or Windows Vista, etc..) or scan for viruses/spywares to see that the software is not corrupted by a virus or malware..
