Access your Smart Bro Motorola Canopy Page and Speed up your Wireless Internet Connection

Why will i wanna go and access my Motorola Canopy Page, you ask? Well, it can help you to speed up and manage your Smart Bro internet connection or any internet connection actually that uses the Motorola Canopy Lite or even the older Canopy. By default, your Internet Service Provider may have disabled access to it or they may have not but you have no idea that you can do so. Once you have access, the possibilities are numerous, but the most likely use is to change your download and upload speed or to troubleshoot your connection by changing the Base Station you are connected with which maybe congested or is always down. So without further ado here are the Two Ways to access your Smart Bro Motorola Canopy Page:

First and Easy Way:

1. In Windows XP, go to Control Panel then to Network Connections. Look for Local Area Connection which is your SmartBRO connection. In Windows Vista, it's slightly different, you either go to Control Panel, then to Network and Sharing Center under Classic View, then choose on the left, Manage Network Connections, there you will see your SmartBro connection which is the Local Area Connection. Another way in Windows Vista is to right click on the Network Connected Icon in your taskbar and select Network and Sharing Center, then Manage Network Conections, then Local Area Connection.

2.) Either OS you have, right click Local Area Connection and select Properties.

3.) Under Windows XP, This connection uses the following items:, double-click on Internet Protocol TCP/IP. Under Windows Vista, This connection uses the following items:, double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 ( TCP/IPv4).

4.) Set your IP address to 169.254.3.3, and subnet mask to 255.255.0.0., disregard Gateway IP.

5.) Click OK, and close all windows.

6.) Open your internet browser which should be preferably, FireFox,
, and enter in the address bar, 169.254.1.1 , this will take you to the Canopy MS page. That's the first way to access the Motorola Canopy Page.

Second Way (and more complicated one):

Since the IP Address, 169.254.1.1, will not work this time, unlike the first method, the following steps will help you identify your Canopy address:

1. Follow steps 1-3 from the first method.

2. Then, this time, set your IP address to 10.20.30.40, and subnet mask to 255.0.0.0

3. In Windows XP, on the Start menu, select Run, and type cmd. In Windows Vista, just type, cmd , in "Start Search"

4. Once in the cmd "black widow," enter the following command: arp -a. It will display the IP addresses connected to your network. Look for an IP address beginning with 10 (10.xxx.xx.xx), take note of it, this is your Canopy address. Note: your Canopy address is not the one with 10.0.0.1.

5.) Close the command prompt window or cmd and open your web browser, preferably Firefox,
, and enter your Canopy address in the address bar, that Canopy address is the one you've taken note in step no.4 (10.xxx.xx.xx). That's it. You can now enter you're Canopy Page.

Once in the Motorola Canopy page, the possibilities are endless actually, but in this tutorial, the only ways useful is of course to speed up your download or upload speed.

Once in the Motorola Canopy Page, go to Configuration, then to Quality of Service (QoS) Tab. There, enter your desired Sustained Uplink Data Rate and Sustained Downlink Data Rate, note that in Motorola Canopy Lite which i am using, there is a cap of : 1000 kbps, so i choose 750 for downloads and 250 for uploads. It is now up to you to choose whatever suits your internet needs. Don't forget to also Enable
Hi Priority Channel. See the pic below, it is my own configuration.

To troubleshoot your connection or to simply gawk at it, you can go to Tools, then choose the AP Evaluation tab, there yuo will see the various Base Stations available within your area range. Look for your Color Code Number, the ideal Color Code (or Base Station) is the one with a high RSSI and low Jitter. You can now chage your Color Code (Base Station) in Configuration -> Radio tab. You can change it, then click on Save Changes and then ReBoot.

  4. tol, a color code does not necessarily correspond to a different BTS. on a single BTS, smart might have installed at least two (usually six) motorola canopy APs. the color codes correspond to each AP on the same BTS. they are facing different sectors though.

  5. Sorry does not work at all, Firefox says, connection exists, but is blocked for some reason. My canopy was installed during May 2008

  6. It didnt work for me however, if you move the SU (your canopy radio)so that it cannot communicate with the AP unit(their tower) by turning it 180 degrees and then try the first method again...it may work...worked for me!

  7. For those of you having trouble, you may actually have to go outside and turn the unit 180 degrees so it cannot communicate with the tower ap unit.

While it's turned away, follow the first method above and it should work!

Remember to mark the direction your subscriber unit is facing so that you can put it back in the same place after making your modifications!

    Good luck!

  10. what would be the default password be to access these settings..

  11. This does not work. You need a default plug for the first method and as far as the second method goes you need to be on the same subnet mask as the AP. Also you have to know the password for the AP to access the configuration pages. The color code is set by the wireless company to correspond with the AP on the tower. You change it you lose connection. :) Hope this helps

  17. there are two ways how to access ur Subscriber Module or {SM}.

1.First Get the ESN of the antenna located at the back below! look for the ESN its look like this
ESN:0A003ED281E4.CONVERT IN TO DECIMALS.. NOTE: ONLY D2-81-E4 YOU WILL CONVERT TO DECIMAL .
,D2=210,81=129,E4=228, 3E AUTOMATIC CHANGE IN 10 BASE,, SO THE IP LOOKS LIKE THIS, 10.210.129.228.

2.GO TO LOCAL AREA CONNECTION, OPEN THE TCPIP

AND PUT THE IP YOU CONVERT..NOTE:THE LAST DIGIT SHOULD ADD 1, EXAMPLE THE LAST IS 228 + 1 = 229,
    . INPUT IT TO TCPIP
AND APPLY. OPEN ANY INTERNET BROWSER YOU HAVE AVAILABLE.. JUST TYPE THE IP 10.210.129.228.
NOW U CAN ACCESS UR ANTENNA. THE END!!!

  18. And this is the exact reason why Wireless Internet Providers, such as the one I work for started using AAA and Radius servers to control bandwidth instead of the radios them selfs. Chances are, this no longer works, as your bandwidth limitation is now set both in the Canopy and on the Server. If you do get into the canopy and change your speed, the server will catch it and throttle you back down. Our server where I am will also tell us which customers have tried editing the bandwidth settings. We then have them arrested for theft of service.

  21. theft of service???

how can u say that it is a theft of service... maybe u mean smart bro lacks of service... lol

by the way, my connection now is very poor, its not like last year that can reach up to 1.6Mbps but now its very poor. it only reaches 380kbps...

I just want to know how to access my canopy so that i can forward some ports if available to host my website.

The ESN of my antena was removed, they removed it when they put my antenna...

    plan 999 = 1 Mbits/sec
    but i got 380kbps...

    then who stole service??? lol

  22. hoy ung gung gung na nag sabing theft of service ayusin muna ng smartbro ung serbisyo nila dahil pinagloloko nila ung mga customer nila..... pano magiging theft of service eh palagi putol o wlang signal services nyo sino ngyon ang magnanakaw kung nag bbyad ng tama customer tpos wlang mgandang serbisyo s provider..... tigas ng muka mo magsabing theft of service kupal ka.....

  23. tigas ng mukha ng nagsabi ng AAA at RAdius servers..... it's always easy to hack a main server.... remember that bro..... as long as you have communication with it... dumbass SmartBro think they can outsmart customers by promising 2mbps but giving only 360kbps.... nice trick! not working for me... lol

  24. just visited a smartbro-ken center. i did inquired if it's possible to increase the bandwidth cap for existing plan999 canopy users to the new 2mbps limit there are offering to new subscribers (we were using the plan999 canopy type connection for almost 4years now, that promises upto 1mbps) - the worst reply i heard that NO, they can't. WTF! is this their way of satisfying their loyal subscribers? well, gotta to do it on my own and studying options on how to hack their st*pid system to get the max possible netspeed we truly deserve.

  25. Hello experts....
I have blocked smart canopy almost a year ago,
I tried to open its homepage and fortunately I was successful using ESN#, but I'll never access again its homepage using its ESN# after I'd enable DHCP from the settings (save and rebbot).

I'm using 10.20.30.40 on TCP and arp -a on CMD
but it just say no Entry Found..

    Pls...help....
